Bodmin Beacon

A fantastic Mammal Mad event was held on a sunny Saturday with 29 people including 9 enthusiastic children. CMG Chairman, Dave Groves, led with assistance from Coralie Barrow from Cornwall Council’s Environmental Services. Humane live small mammal traps were checked but unfortunately, none of the furry creatures were captured. Never the less, some eager mammal tracking for field signs and nut hunting went ahead. Someone with a very keen eye spotted the fresh badger droppings. Through the woodland, hazel nut shells on the ground were examined to find out which mammals had eaten them. At the end of the event, hot drinks and biscuits were enjoyed all round together with an informative mammal display.
